Romania has recorded only its second ever victory at the European Championship and its first in 24 years with a resounding 3-0 triumph over Ukraine in the opening game of Group E at Euro 2024. Captain Nicolae Stanciu inspired his team to victory with a stunning goal, while George Puscas and Alexandru Mitrita also found the net in Munich.

Ukraine suffered a disastrous start to their Euro 2024 campaign, conceding three goals without reply to a rampant Romania side. The victory sees Romania move to the top of Group E, with Ukraine rooted to the bottom after the first round of fixtures. It is just the second time that Romania have scored three goals in a EURO match, after the 3-2 victory against England in 2000.
